Spidey Lounge Chair

Spidey lounge chair is a design inspired by nature. It is a result of learning closely from spider silk’s form, aesthetic, and function 

The clear nylon web gives a transparent and light aesthetic to the chair in contrast to solid and opaque shadow it casts. It also creates a seamless transition between two intersecting planes — the seat and the backrest — of the chair. The webbing might look random at first, however, it is actually carefully calculated to provide more surface support where it is needed. In other words, there are more web intersecting  in areas that will receive more pressure to ensure user’s and support comfort, while using minimal material. At the same time, this material and method of constructing will allow water to quickly pass through instead of building up when it rains. 

The main structure is made of continuous bent steel tube coated to prevent weathering. It has one additional support under the seat for the chair’s compression load and to counter tensile force of the nylon webs. This chair is designed with optimal angle and dimensions for lounging posture
